A Double Whammy!

Dear Residents,

The inevitable has happened today.

Two houses were broken into in USJ 11/3. The victims' houses were ransacked and valuables including money, laptop, jewelery were among the items stolen.

The time when the houses were most likely broken into was between 1 pm - 5 pm. The way the crime was committed seemed to suggest that the houses were marked before the break in took place as the thieves seemed to know when the occupants of the houses were out on their business.

The Committee views these incidences seriously. As such, we will be convening a meeting very soon to discuss ways to prevent this from happening. This would most likely mean we will be intensifying our security checks particularly during the vulnerable times. So, please brace yourselves for stringent checks soon at our checkpoints.

But in the meantime, here are some tips for you on how to stay secure:

1. Ensure you lock all doors if you are out - double lock if you have to.
2. Install an alarm system if you have not already done so.
3. Install CCTV it you can afford to do so.
4. Inform your neighbours if you are going out.
5. If your neighbours are not around then notify the gusrds so that they can keep a look out for you when you are away.
6. Look out for unusual and suspicious characters and report them.
7. Hide all your valuables and cash in areas where it is difficult to find.
8. Thieves will look into cupboards and drawers as most of our valuables will be kept in places like these so avoid putting your valuables there.

And if you are unfortunate and do become a victim, make a police report immediately and also do inform the Committee as soon as you can. We will try to assist you in whatever way we can.

Most of all, do not take your safety and security for granted.

Be safe.

Regards,

The Committee

How come houses in your "fortress" USJ11 still have break-ins? Then what's the purpose of your residents keep on paying and supporting the GnG?

You mentioned that these houses have been marked - maybe the thieves are somehow linked to the security firm or the guards?

Even if your guards spot the robbers/thieves, what can they do? They merely call the police by which time the robbers would have fled.

Have you also not noticed that USJ11 has a very high incidence of dengue? How come? Mosquitoes breeding from oil drums etc?

Better tear down your self-imposed prison and let others enter your area freely. Don't behave like kids!

Here is a comment that make your stomach curl! An anti-G&G and a sarcastic one at it!

What is the purpose of our G&G? To MINIMISE crime. Did we anytime claim we can guarantee this will not happen? Perhaps you might want to think on a bigger perspective - we have police - do they guarantee that there will be no crime?

And you said we have established a "FORTRESS". Do you live here? If you do, are you not able to get in and out freely?

You have made a simple assumption that crime are actually committed by the security firm we employ. How shallow can you get? There are also the gardeners who work in the park, postmen, electricians among others. In that case, why dont you also add them to the list. Since you are at it, why not put in the neighbours as well? How stupid can you get?

You have mentioned that the drums in USJ 11 caused dengue? Again you are so presumptious and stupid. Did you not know that USJ 11 was already a black area for dengue way before we started this G&G? Have you ever wondered about empty houses, gutters, etc?

You are obviously one of those free loaders who enjoy all things good at other's expense. You are nothing but a selfish, idiotic person who needs to have a reality check.

Now why don't you grow up instead????

Would like to bring to attention that of late quite a number houses at 11/3 are under renovation. Skeptic about the foreign workers. Trend shows that everytime after renovation either theft happens or someone else's maid runs away. So occupants should be more weary when there's renovation nearby. So is there any check on that??? Appreciate the committee's dedication to make our area safer. Even the government cannot guarantee safety for all, we need to have a community that is vigilant and supportive at the same time. So those not paying show empathy. Remember it could happen to you.

Dear Anonymous,

We ourselves have to be vigilant at all times. No doubt we have G&G. Our USJ11/3 committee is doing a very good job. I agree with 3M whenever there is renovations work done around that certain area, there seem to have houses broken into affair. I have that experience before in 2005 even when someone was at home.
I think the committee should ask the house owner whose house is renovating to furnish the committee with all particulars of the workers ( example: Name & IC No. & Passpor No.). The committee can notify the owner for their co-operation in insuring the security of USJ11/3.
