Jan-Feb 2011 Newsletter

Dear Residents,

This is our first edition of the newsletter for 2011. As mentioned earlier, 2010 has been a challenging year even for your Resident Association. And why was that? Because towards the end of November 2010, our collection looked extremely bad and at that point in time, most of us in the Committee were concerned about our ability to carry on with the security services.

While the collection has started to trickle in since our last appeal in the newsletter, the overall collection and support in general has dwindled. This simply means, we may have to review our security services. Your support is very important, as without it, the security services will definitely “die a natural death” just like what had happened to some of the areas in our neighbourhood.

As such, we would like to revisit the implementation of our security services against the current scenario. At the end of the newsletter, you will find a survey form which needs your immediate attention. Please fill it up and hand in to any guard post before 26 January 2011.

Improvement works:

To improve the safety and security for our residents, the following works were carried out:

1. Concrete slab for Guard House No.4, daily operation works;
2. Provided and opening and installed handrail/concrete walkway at Gate No. 4;
3. Installed new gate and concrete walkway at Gate 6 for easy access to residents to the shops;
4. Replaced the wooden bridge with concrete (original metal bridge was stolen) near playground at the Pizza Vs Satay restaurant.

3rd Annual General Meeting:

Our Resident Association will be having its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, 19 March 2011 at 9:30 am at the MPSJ Auditorium.

You are invited to attend this very important meeting to scrutinize how the funds/collection is spent and what activities your Committee members have been doing throughout the year. It is also a way to show your support as in the last AGM, the attendance was extremely poor which give the Committee the impression that the residents in USJ 11/3 just do not care!

We will be electing the new Committee for the year and hopefully we will see some new faces in the lineup. We hope you will take some time to attend this important meeting which affects all of us. And to ensure you know that such an important meeting is taking place, we are giving you ample notice.

Accident reported at 11/3M:

While we are concern about attempted break-ins and snatch thieves in our area, we would like to highlight the road safety in our area.

On Friday (January 14) at around 1:30 pm, a resident’s son was knocked down by a silver colored Toyota Unser while he was alighting from his mother’s car along 11/3M. He was injured but luckily not too badly. This accident should not have happened as if all of us were to drive slowly and carefully especially along roads in residential areas.

The driver of the Toyota Unser, instead of alighting to help the injured boy, drove off leaving the mother in a state of panic. Fortunately a neighbour came out and helped the family to the hospital. A police report was lodged by the father of the victim. If you know of this transporter/driver, kindly get in touch with the Committee members. There is also no harm in lodging a police report of speeding vehicles if you come across any and let the police handle the case.

MY Kampung 3rd Anniversary Party:

As time was not on our side to organize the planned New Year Party, we have instead set a new date for our 3rd anniversary celebration. To be known as “MY Kampung 3rd Anniversary Party”, we plan to do it bigger and better than the last time. It will be held on Saturday, 26 February 2011 at 7 pm at the USJ 11/3 padang and you are ALL cordially invited.

We would also like to reiterate that the money for this celebration will be raised through generous sponsors such as hypermarts, banks, etc and NOT from the collection from you. We already have pledges from our ADUN, YB Hannah Yeoh’s office and several private entities. Among events planned for the night will be movies, bands, clown, stunt performers, etc. Since we are ahead of time, if there are any talented young people in our community who would like to perform, kindly contact the Committee members. We might be able to use your services! Food is planned for at least 800 people comprising Mee Goreng, Satay, Kuih, Nasi Lemak, cookies, etc. In addition, we plan to provide free medical-check ups for the residents.

Among the invitees will be our ADUN, our MP, the Police from USJ 8, YDP MPSJ, Bomba and our councillor for our area. We also plan to have prizes for the best dressed person and the theme will be our Malaysian cultural heritage.

So, do come in your best traditional costumes. You may win some great prizes!!

Security Services:

As explained earlier, due to the poor response in collection and the lack of interest from our community to be volunteers to help in tasks such as collection of security fees, the Committee is now reviewing the security services to reflect the current situation and to be fair to the paying residents.

We will be conducting a trial to remove all guards stationed at the 3 entry/exit points to only patrolling and looking after the resident’s house who have paid their last subscription on a 24x7 basis. The trial period will be in two phases:

1. 29 January 2011 – 6 February 2011
2. 7 February 2011 – 13 February 2011

The idea is to assign certain streets to the guards and that they will focus on looking after the paying residents homes ONLY. For this trial to be successful, we would like members to donate/loan any spare bicycles that you may have, for the guards to be more effective.

If you have not made your payment yet, kindly do so but please make sure you collect your receipt from your street leaders. Without proof of payment, your names with your home details may not be on the list and the guards will not look after your property.

Thank you.

I sure non of us would like to see this happen .
Suggestion :
1. reduce entrace , mean reduce cost on guards .
2. street leader to taken along min. 10 person street neighbours to go round for collection and to understand the situation .
3. the G&G go by the street , mean not by area .

very sad the G&G for USJ11 has came to this situation .
suggest to send letter to all resident , ask for feedback and suggestions .

It is sad that our G & G has come to this state. I sincerely hope that all resident will wake up and reevaluate the situation. Do we want to be living in fear of snatch thieves all day long? Can we perhaps have a vote on how many folks are really interested in this project and from there try to revive it.

We live along 11/3m, and we'd like to make a few suggestions. For starters, maybe you guys should start a guard training program, instead of rehiring more and more useless guards. And maybe put up an electrical survelliance system, so the guards wont have to patrol around too much. The truth is, putting cameras around the neigbourhood is much more effective then just setting up a couple at entrances. I hope that the comittee could look into these, and maybe get an upgrade with the guard house. With a decent toilet and stuff. Thanks.

Aisay man! You brought it upon yourself!

From Day 1, you tried to Do It Yourself (DIY) prison on an open concept, imposing your will on others.

Then you ridicule those who oppose this gated idiocy. When residents don't support you, you say all sorts of things, infuriating lots of people and causing so much inconveniences and disharmonies among residents.

Under the pretense of voluntary work and protecting your neighbourhood, you all are actually making things worse with your childish, immatured, illegal and very wrong way of doing things.

Of course you have no bloody guts to post this view because you guys are all dictators. You blame others for not being civic minded but actually you are all cowards shivering in your own self-made prisons. How can you block all the roads - gila ah?

USJ 11/3 and other USJ 11 areas are the laughing stork of the Klang Valley.

You post residents' photos for breaking your locks. In the first place what you are doing is ILLEGAL and yet you humiliate others!

Great news that your idiotic gated concept is dying. You can be robbed anywhere! Foster true neighbourliness and stop trying to tear our beloved USJ apart!!

Dear Residents,

Please read citizen nades yesterday, 24/1/11, article in page 11 Sun papers. The title "Focus on the big picture and ............ 'not-in-my-backyard'......If it affects them directly, they are willing to yell and spend their last ringgit fighting the cause. But when it comes to issues affecting the entire country(or kampong), they watch with arms folded. " Sound familiar, RIGHT !

Would like to propose a informal interaction meeting at our playing field soonest possible between the committee members and the residents to try to resolve the current situation.

Dear Residents,

Despite what the Aisay man commented, look at positive side of it. Let forget the not so good experiences in the past and move forward, it is part and parcel of the life journey. And move on we all will do. Hopefully if the proposed informal meeting at the playing field is agreeable by all, please bring your own chair and voice your constructive opinion for the improvement of our kampong.

Its so sad that people are still bad mouthing the committee and the residents' choice of protecting ourselves. Seems a number of our neighbours are so comfortable with our security that they are no longer willing to pay for it and still expect to enjoy it. I for one will be willing to pay extra if we have no choice but to resort to street by street security. At least when my children and I come home at any hour of the day there is less (I didnt say 'none') chance of them being robbed or worse, injured. I agree that bad things can happen anywhere but since I can try to mitigate it in my own environment, why not?

Refer to the comment from unknown person dated 24.1.11 @ 11.52pm .
Let's think carefully , are you concern with the criminal situation .
G&G is to mean for double protection on top of Malaysia police force , what wrong with that ????
If you take this G&G like a prison , do you know that those high priced houses are all with G&G , ie : Country height , Siere Mas , Tropicana bangalow etc .
If you dont join the majority , you move out from this area .
We want to meet you , kindly provide your contact .

Hello , comment from " 24.1.11 11.52pm "
You don't like the group , you move out from this area .
Don't waste your time on the situation with majority , you are the odd person . move to any where you like but not USJ11/3 .
Give us your contact , we would like to meet you .

Dear Aisay man,

You point your finger at others and say that they are childish and immature. Look at the mirror. The real baby here is you.

You mock the hardworking committee members who gave up their time and effort to lend a hand in making our area a safer place

Did you lift a finger to help them in any way? I'm pretty sure you didn't. But if you did, good for you but stop your ridiculous accusations.

In what world is that doing voluntary work and protecting your home making things worse? Aren't you worried for the safety of your family. Or let's assume that you don't have one, don't you want to feel that even when you're out, you know that when you come home, everything is there safe and sound?

What is your definition of prison?

It seems to me that prison is to keep criminals away from society, ensuring the public's safety.

But I'm really sure that the gated concept is to keep the criminals OUT from US.

Please use the following link if you don't believe
me. http://www.google.com/dictionary?aq=f&langpair=en|en&q=prison&hl=en

What do you care if we are the laughing stock of Klang Valley? We would get the last laugh when they are robbed, their house broken in while we are safe and sound in our "prison" (or as you put it)

"Great news that your idiotic gated concept is dying?"

Tak MALU AH??

Will you be happy when you or anyone you know or is close with is a victim of burglary, snatch theives, kidnapping or etc.?

I am not cursing you but your lack of common sense amazes me. You don't feel happy when you're safe?

Please enlighten me and prove me wrong about your thinking capabilities. Step up, don't be shy or scared, leave you details and we will keep in touch. :)

PS. I'm taking a wild guess that you didn't pay and you enjoy being a free rider.

and by the way, a free rider, in lay man's term is a parasite who enjoys their share of public resource without paying.

So yeah, you are kind of like a leech. SEEKOR PACAT.

Dear all,

Thank you for your comments either way. The intention of posting the newsletter into the blog (which was also sent to your house) was to be transparent about the whole process of notification. Apparently, this "Aisay Man" thought if we did not post the comments it was because we were "afraid". Far from the truth! Actually, we were trying to prevent "Aisay Man" and types of people like these from being ridiculed which apparent is what that has happened here. You would be interested to know that every comment that came in was posted as is. You can accuse us of being 'cowards' and ridicule us all you want but it will not stop our resolve in ensuring we do our best to secure our own homes. BTW, for the benefit of our paying members, a lot of feedback forms have come back. You can be assured that the Committee will continue to do whatever is necessary to ensure of the safety of our paying members, for the protection of their homes and family. We will be updating you soon on that progress. In the meantime, "Aisay Man" - nothing to worry, you can continue to remain a coward, hide your ID, continue to live as that little frustrated person your are and write rubbish like this which I assure you will be posted. Most of the residents will not agree with you anyway whatever your warped perception is. And we do have a lot of them.

Could the committee please publish a list on this blog those who have paid? At least we know those who have not paid. If could be one of our neighbors who have overlooked & forgotten & we can help.
Some people become complacent and dont want to pay now they can sleep soundly. One we let our guards down, the robbers will come again. I know of others areas in USJ with no G&G encounter 3 breakins in the same street a day. So come on residents who have stop contributing you dont want to regret.

It is sad to hear about the poor collection...

Is it really that tough to pay RM50 a month while some of them own few cars? (more than 2)

Is it really that tough to come out with RM50 a month while there are 2 Astro one house?

Pls!!! WAKE UP!!! CARS and ASTRO will not protect you and your family safety!!!

To all the G&G supporters, pls keep up the good supports.

p/s: I am one of the G&G loyal supporters.

Ya , agreed to the last comment .
Publish those paid .
We will talk to those not paying .
Let's see what is the feedback .
Thanks

I fully agreed on views about aisay man. Let us get together to show him that we can still make things work and not let him mock this G & G of ours. Posting all payees will be a very good start. We can then help to talk to our non paying neighbours who might have just gotten complacent with safety of our kampung. Good job done by our committee. Keep up the good job.

Jeffrey Khoo said...

Dear Residents,

Thank you all for your comments.

The trial period on the change of guarding our paying members' home have started. We have also taken note of your suggestion to publish the paying members addresses - something which will be done with the consent of the Committee and also after we have thoroughly checked through the list. We do not want to unintentionally embarass anyone as we may have missed their names out even though they may have paid as mistakes can still happen. With CNY around the corner, we will pay extra attention to your homes (paying members only). We are planning further measures to ensure that the new system will run without any hitches. More information on the way soon. For those who are going away, safe driving and Happy Holidays and for our Chinese residents, "Gong Xi Fa Cai"!!

Hi All USJ11/3 Resident ,
Totally agreed to those comment to publish those who not pay for G&G ,
you can have all the luxury things but not prepare to pay RM50 / month ? not sure what's thinking ?
From : KKK

Anonymous said...

To those not willing to pay ,
Let's think carefully , what you can save for paying RM50 / month on G&G ?
Ask yourself :
a. do you want to have better security ?
b. sleep with peace in mind ?
c. leave home without any worry ?
d. minimise any criminal case ?

For now onward , I will not friend with those house without " red sticker " , you are the odd people and not suitable to stay in USJ11/3 .

Good Luck .

So Jeffrey Khoo.

You posted my comments just to hit back.

I and many others like me are not warped as you put it.

Your utter arrogance clearly shows that you have infuriated many of your neighbours as well as many outsiders.

If you have that much support, why is your collection dwindling. We have told you long ago that your kind of GnG will not work.

We can be robbed anywhere. You should be held personally responsible for tearing this neighbourhood apart!

Post this comment if you dare! Yeah, I see you as not only arrogant but a coward. A bad hat can simply rent a house or even a room within our area and whack us from within.

Stand up to the robbers. Why are you quivering like a woman?!

Jeffrey Khoo said...

Aisay Man,

So, you are back! Man, what took you so long? See, I don't post you said we are cowards, I post you say, I hit you back. So how?

Anyway, up until now, you have not done anything to identify yourself - so that still makes you a coward.

BTW, in case you do not know, I am part of the Committee and there are some 20 people involved. And we discuss everything we do in our community for our community.

Just because I happen to also take the role of Editor does not mean that I am acting alone. But then again, yuur brains are too small to comprehend. So, you still want to hold me responsible only? Ok, I shouldn't accept but I am flattered.

And if you would like to take up the case of other committees in other areas 'dividing' up Subang Jaya and USJ, let us know. Glad to give you their names so that you can also take them to tasks!

Also, to avoid you being mauled again by our residents, I have taken the liberty NOT to post anymore of your silly comments. Just to save you further embarassment, know what I mean?

Come forth and talk to us like adults if you have the guts. Not hide behind your mask and act so macho but yet remain a gutless chook! So who is the woman here?

And oh, before I forget, I have got good news for you. The security services will continue even if people like you do not support it. Never you mind, the subscription has dropped. Just that this time, our focus will be on folks who pay! Now, isn't that great?

Dear Residents,
I could not agree more on comments made by kkk. Just look at those reside at 11/3k, are they not feel guity or shameful when they open their main doors and everyone can see that they have not paid their security fees ? Many of them are professionals in their fields of speciality, many with astro, petrol guzzling machinese..... I would like to appeal to them to reconsider for not paying the security fees.

Dear Residents,
Wish to inform that a few of the 11/3K residents have contributed their security fees for the past weeks, many thank you to you all. We hope more of the yet to contribute residents(without red dot on their plaque) will contribute soon. With the gates now wide open for all without the guards manning during the day time and with the down turn of the economy, soon enough the crooks; robbers, snatch thiefs, house break-in thiefs, conmen and many bad people will find their way to our kampong. For those who have yet to contribute their security fees (RM50.00 per month), kindly contribute soonest for us to afford to hire the guards to man the gates, before the crooks find their way to our kampong.

th-chong, 3K.
