Announcement

USJ 11/3 Guarded / Gated Community for Security & Crime Prevention is in place by 1 October 2008
(Hari Raya Day, Syawal 1)

After some teething problems, a functioning neighbourhood security and crime prevention system is in place by 1 October 2008 (Hari Raya Day, Syawal 1) in USJ 11/3. This will enable residents to live and move about the neighbourhood with greater security. More residents and non-residents will visit the shops and businesses in this neighbourhood when they see the crime rate reduced. Having this functioning neighbourhood security system will not only help to deter crime in this neighbourhood but also contribute to a greater security in USJ. Our security can help provide information to and assist the police in arresting snatch thieves, burglars and criminals operating in USJ in general. The continuous smooth running of this system will encourage residents and neighbouring communities to be more security-conscious and not convenience-conscious. Residents, people from neighbouring communities and businesses have generally given constructive suggestions for improvement. Unfortunately, there have also been self-serving remarks made by anonymous individuals which have no relevance to security and crime prevention. They just want this USJ11/3 functioning neighbourhood security and crime prevention system to fail for reasons known only to them. For continuous improvement of the system, we have volunteers to constantly check on the operations as well as create a sense of belonging to the community through closer public relations and communications. Your continuous support and cooperation are much appreciated.

Hi Jeffrey,
Good job, all details have been thought off. But the guards must be reminded of their duty regularly. Otherwise, they will get slack. The following are some observation on guards' performance.
(1) a traffic cone is placed at the entrance lane, a good move to slow down & to stop cars without stickers. However, it was observed that some guards don't or sometime they don't.
(2) the guards have been deligently noting down car no without stickers, another good job, but the car has already driven off and he is still busy writing the detail, he didn't have the time to even look at the next 2 cars that follow behind and driven straight right through. May be he shd finish his recording before he removes the traffic cone to let the car in.
(3) patrol on bike, another good move. But I saw them travelling too fast. They shd not ride to enjoy the breeze, but to watch out the entrances/gates of house without occupant, stop at the back lane to have a look for suspicious charaters.
But overall, it has been a terrific good start. looking forwards to the next stage of action, i.e. fencing up. It wld help to tighten up further the 2 far ends of 3A and 3P which currently do not have full time guard station.

Dear Ken,

TQ for the comments. Some of these articles are not written by me so I cannot take all the credit. It is just that they do not want to be known as an individual but as the Committee.

Your comments and feedback are very important for us to be able to improve the system. Trust me, we have been having meetings after meetings so that we can work out the best for the problems that have cropped up. The good news is, it is being resolved.

So, please do be patient but do point out to us should there still be problems that needs fixing. Hopefully, things will work out better in the longer term.

Have a good day Ken.

Cheers
