Letter from concern resident

Dear All,

Just to bring to attention the number of residents whom thinks by dumping their rubbish at public trees or areas will keep their home area cleaner. They think, eventually the garbage collector will collect it. This is happening in USJ 11 / 3 and I believe many other areas and sad because subang jaya / usj is supposed to be a developed area with affordable society. You will be surprise some even drives big cars to dump their rubbish there.

Regretably they do not CARE that by dumping rubbish at those areas, it will expose to crows, cats, other pest and even 'so called recycle scavengers' whom will leave the place dirty and unhygienic. Old sofas  and mattresses left there might even collect rain etc resulting to aedes breeding etc. There is also someone whom dump his spoilt flourescent tube at recycle collection area and hoping will be collected within next few days by the organisation. What happen if someone accidentally step on it etc?

I think about time we have laws to make those caught to do community work instead of just fines. Am sure community work like doing cleanign of public areas will make them understand.

Same robbers robbed family this morning at USJ 5

A robbery happened at USJ5/1J at around 8.15am this morning. A gang of 3 Chinese and 1 Malay masked men robbed a family of cash and laptop. Total loss estimated at RM3,000+. Family was locked up in the bathroom. Robbers also warned the family not to lodge police report or they will come back n hurt the family.

What happens when support for G&G starts to dwindle?

Happy Wesak Day to the Buddhist Community!

Here is an extract from SJ Alert. Although you have been having a relative peaceful sleep and no reports of crime, there were indeed crimes happening around us. It is just that our G&G is keeping us safe and that we are now beginning to take this for granted.

This happened in USJ26 from a resident called Akil. He lamented that crime has returned to his neighborhood since the G&G stopped due to the non-cooperation of the residents there.

The subscription collection are now due. We hope we will not suffer this fate and that all the residents in USJ 11/3 will come forward to keep the G&G going to safeguard our neighborhood from crime.

Please read the following:

We had a break-in at our neighborhood yesterday between 4pm and 6pm during the heavy thunderstorm. The owner left the house at 4pm and returned around 6pm to find gate and door ajar. A suspicious silver MPV was seen leaving in a hurry when the owner returned with some tools used for breaking into the house, left behind. The owner reported the incident to the Police.

This is the THIRD (3) case since GnG stopped due to some residents apathy. And the thieves knows this and are targeting USJ 26. They being "professional", will always choose a time when we are most vulnerable for example:

1) Heavy rain, so even if the alarm sounds, no one will take notice.
2) Weekdays when no one is at home
3) Power failure (when CCTV and alarm not working)

Looking at the pattern…the guard can only serve as a deterrent….
And this was the case for the 2+ years crime free neighbourhood (while we had GnG implemented)
For those who don’t believe in GnG, IT WORKS……..

Hopefully, with these incidents, the residents at USJ26 can start to cooperate again.

Saya ingin kongsi bersama cerita malang yang berlaku semasa majlis perkahwinan adik saya semalam (28/11/2010). Kami sekeluarga mengadakan majlis kahwin semalam di USJ 22. Majlis semuanya berjalan lancer sehinggalah selepas tamat majlis jam 4 petang.

Kami sekeluarga mula mengesan beberapa kehilangan dompet, duit, kad kredit dan duit mas kahwin. Sehingga malam dianggarkan kami sekeluarga kehilangan dalam RM 2500 tunai. Selain itu beberapa dokumen-dokumen penting seperti kad kredit, IC, lesen memandu dan kad bank turut hilang. 

Kami mengesyaki 2 orang wanita melayu dewasa berumur sekitar 38-42 bersama 2 orang kanak-kanak iaitu seorang budak perempuan berumur antara 12-15 tahun dan seorang budak lelaki berumur antara 7-9 tahun terlibat dalam kegiatan mencuri ini. Mereka amat mesra dan beroperasi semasa pengantin sedang makan beradap. Mereka minta untuk solat dalam bilik dan mengunci pintu dari dalam sebelum menyelongkar bilik mencari barang berharga. Mereka memasuki semua bilik berdasarkan lokasi barangan yang hilang.

Mereka berpakaian baju kurung meron dan purple pada hari tersebut. Beberapa kes sebelum ini juga dilaporkan mereka menggunakan baju yang sama. Bertudung dan kulit hitam manis.  

Berdasarkan maklumat polis, ini adalah kes keempat  yang dilakukan oleh org yg sama yang berlaku di sekitar USJ dan Putra Height. Kami sedang cuba membantu pihak polis mengesan suspek dengan mengumpulkan gambar-gambar yang diambil semasa majlis tersebut.

Sehubungan itu, kepada sesiapa yang ingin mengadakan majlis perkahwinan di rumah diharap dapat berhati-hati.

SNATCH THEFT IN USJ 2 - Friday, 30 July 2010

Dear Residents,

In subscribing to SJ Alert, you will get a lot of news on the happenings (especially related to crime) around Subang and USJ. I would like to share this posting from Encik Ghani who had sent this message to everyone in SJ Alert (TQ Encik Ghani). What is important to note in his message is that even when there are guards deployed, these criminals shows no fear and continue to commit such crimes. And so these types of violent snatch theft continues where potential and serious harm can befall the victim.

What we need to do is to be on the alert at all times and not take things for granted. This is so important. Also, for the non-paying residents, if you can help us lighten the burden for everyone in our community, kindly do your part and pay the subscription. It is only RM50 a month - to ensure our safety and the safety of our families, it is not such a high price to pay - is it?

Dear All,

Please be informed that around 11am today, two Chinese men have snatched a necklace from a lady at Jalan USJ 2/6 and USJ 2/6A. They were riding on a motorbike one is small young man and the other is old and a bit plum.

I was at the office when my wife called me. She heard a lady screaming and struggling, saw two guys on motorbike passed by. The men used knife to snatch the necklace. The lady was ok with a bit of bruises on her neck and still in shock.

I managed to call our guards and they were at the scene just a minute or two after it happened.

Later the residents came forward and in more than ten minutes Police came in.

Be careful to all since the same guys were the one who snatched my neighbour last December using chopping knife.

I am not sure where to turn/call when our guards are not around anymore. Eventhough its happen to non-RA members, I have asked the guards to try to chase them be extra careful and alert.

I hereby would like to plead all the residents and members to pay our subscription fees to ensure we could have our guards around to control the situation. It might not be perfect BUT still it is very effective and helpful.

BLOOD DONOR APPEAL for 7 year old Matthew

This is a personal appeal for a dear friend's 7 year old son...

Just last Wednesday, 17 Feb 2010, Matthew Lee, a 7 year old boy known for his jovial and mischievous nature was diagnosed with leukemia and is currently in SJMC. His platelet count is extremely low and as such, he is in urgent need of platelet donors. As a friend, I am appealing for your help. Here is an excerpt from Mattthew's father, Mr. Lee Peng Siang.

"Matt needs platelet and blood donors. All types of blood groups, male or female are accepted. The SJMC blood bank is located on the 5th floor of the North Tower. It is open office hours, Monday to Friday. When donating please inform that is it for Matthew Lee room 553. Only people who are not on any kind of long/short term medication accepted. . Platelet donation is critical this week as Matt needs the minimum of 1 bag per day. Those who cannot donate platelets can donate blood. Duration is about 1 hour for blood and 2 hours for platelets. Please also caution against too many visitors due to Matt's low immunity level at this time. Thanks"

Potential blood platelet donors will have to be screened for eligibility because not everyone is. As platelets have a short lifespan, the blood bank cannot simply stock up on platelets and dispense it at their leisure; it has to be relatively fresh. Due to this, it would be good if we had a large pool of eligible donors to call upon. For those not eligible to donate platelets, a blood donation is just as welcomed.

If you are willing to donate, please send an email, which you can also CC to Pauline. This will facilitate us in the compilation of a donors list.

Another frustrated victim of house break-in at USJ12

Dear all,

I have been added to the statistics of break-ins that take place in USJ today.

My house was broken-in when we were away in our hometown. My neighbour called us when they found my gate, front grill door and wooden door were wide open during this afternoon's heavy rainfall. They were away between 11am - 3pm and that's when they suspect the break-in took place. Our house gate & door were still closed when they left their house.

I called the police to go over to our house to check and it was confirmed that the house has been ransacked. Luckily my neighbour was kind enough to help close up the house after the police left.

We arrived this evening to find the gate in good condition. However, the grill's 'ear' (where padlock is placed) has been broken. The wooden door's lock was broken. Drawers have been ransacked. Our bedrooms were in a huge mess, especially the master bedroom. You may think that Hurricane Kathrina has just passed over. Clothes were strewn all over. Drawers turned over. My travelling wallets with different currencies in them were all gone. So was my passport! Some cash, jewellery, electrical components e.g. thumb drive, mobile hardisk, iPod nano, MP3 player ~ gone!!

I have always been very careful to ensure that my house is secured. So, I am very frustrated that I didn't manage to stop the break-in from taking place! If I had been not careful, then it would be my fault! But even when I am doing my part well, this is still happening and I am very angry and upset! I am hoping that our Gated & Guarded community can take off asap so that we can improve the security in USJ2.

Another cry for help!

Dear Reuben,

I'm Edmunt Hunt's neighbour, and am most upset to hear of yet another house break-in along our road.

It happened this morning, at 15x USJ 12/1. As you would probably have known, the thefts that have happened over the past 2 months along Jln USJ12/1 (yes, just over a stretch of less that 100m of this road) are:

i) 18/5/09 - house break-in No 8x(abt 1pm)
ii) 31/5/09 - attempted house break-in @ No. 8x (probably afternoon)
iii) 2/7/09 - car theft @ No. 8x (abt 4am)
iv) 15/7/09 - house break-in @ No.15x (abt 8-9am)

Of course the police would have a far, far more impressive set of data. As a resident staying in 8x Jln USJ 12/1, I'm very concerned that there is obviously NO FEAR OF THE POLICE AT ALL.

Even a blatant disregard (and disrespect) for their (police's) existence. Why??? And this makes me feel so unsafe...... I understand you are Hannah Yeoh's special assistant in this matter.

Can you help the residents of this neighbourhood in any way with regards to improving safety? We'd appreciate any practical help/recommendations.

Car Stolen

Greetings to all,

This is Edmund Hunt, from XX USJ 12/1, This afternoon I received a sms from my immediate neighbor that his next door neighbor's Proton Iswara car was stolen around 4.00am this morning. I'm not sure if a police report was made, but to make known that crime at USJ 12/1 is getting worse. We feel that the thieves are targetting USj 12/1 as it's the main road/arterty for the road users and USJ 12/kindergartens road users.

My question can the police personnel work something about this matter, like having unaanouced roadblock, random spot checks on the various road users using the Jalan USJ 12/1 road. I am just curious why does G & G consencus needs to be 85% rather a simple majority vote. Please deal with this matter urgently, as G & G can help reduce or maybe even prevent crime.

THE next time you see a taxi hanging around longer than normal or the driver behaving suspiciously, SMS the vehicle registration number to the nearest police station.

Send details such as location of the taxi and other identifiable markings as well.

Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Zainal Rashid said the police needed the help of residents to look out for suspicious characters in their neighbourhood.

This follows the daring Scorpion-tattooed 'taxi-river' rapist case which occurred in Subang Jaya recently.

It is believed the suspect has been arrested.

"If you see a taxi driver parking his vehicle too long in a place and especially if he behaves suspiciously, sms us the vehicle number and we will check immediately."

"You can even call us if you suspect anything amiss," he told SJ Echo after making his routine rounds in Subang Jaya early Sunday morning.

This follows the shocking daylight assault and rape of a 17-year-old girl in a heavily-tinted taxi near a condominium in Kelana Jaya recently. The victim had hailed the cab in Subang Jaya at 3pm. After driving her around Subang Jaya and Shah Alam, the cabbie stopped near the condominium where the offence was committed.

Zainal said this also applied to other vehicles and people residents observed to be acting suspiciously.

Police Nab Two Snatch Theft and Robbery Suspects

CLOSE cooperation from residents and swift police action ended the reign of terror of two armed snatch thieves and robbers in Subang Jaya following the arrest of the duo late this evening (Feb 4).

Tailed by plainclothes policeman for several hours without their knowledge, the two suspects had circled around SS14 and SS18 before the long arms of the law reached out to grab them in the residential area.

The suspects, two Indian men in their mid to late thirties, had been on a crime spree for some time now, mugging and robbing residents, including students of their belongings.

Their modus operandi, one of them would approach the victim on the pretext of an emergency and needing to make a call from the victim's mobile phone. Once the existence of a phone is confirmed, the suspect would wield his knife or dagger relieving the victim of their mobile phone and valuables.

The second suspect would then approach before the duo escaped on their motorcycle.

According to SS17 police station officer-in-charge Chief Inspector Sulaiman Baputty, police believe the arrest of the duo would shed light on several snatch theft and robbery cases in Subang Jaya.

"The duo had two knives and also a bottle of petrol on the motorcycle. We believe they used this to threaten their victims."

"My officers had been tailing the duo for the whole afternoon before deciding to move in on them," he said.

Sulaiman thanked residents for providing information and also a description of the suspects which led to the latter's arrest.

Potential Danger on the prowl

This happened to me at the Taipan HSBC Bank today.
I withdrew quite a large amount of money before noon today, whilst my husband waited for me outside the Bank in the car.

I called him on the mobile when I had withdrew the amount which was handed to me in a "special room" and he drove right up to the front of the Bank and we started to leave, we noticed that a Black Camry that was parked in front of the Bank started to leave too.

We drove out onto the main road and made a U-Turn at USJ11/3 and drove toward the MPSJ Building heading toward the Summit/Giant junction. The Camry followed and at the junction of USJ5 and Persiaran Murni, when we stopped for the traffic lights, this Camry drove very close to our car and my husband gestured to the driver asking him what he was trying to doing, that was when we noticed that there were 3 people in the car, a male driver, a lady in the front passenger seat and to our surprise the back windows somehow was wind down we noticed an Arab looking man in the back seat. I suppose that the car was so closed that the car doors could not be opened.

We started to get very suspicious so when the lights turned green we turned right toward Summit junction and my husband made a few misleading turning indications and each time the Black Camry followed. We finally made a turn at the Summit junction going towards Subang Jaya and sure enough the Black Camry followed and we decided to make another U-Turn at the HiTech/Kesas Highway junction and headed back along Jalan Kewajipan toward Balai Polis USJ. I suppose the Black Camry could not follow as they were on the inner lane at the junction and there were quite a lot of cars making it impossible to make the U-Turn.

Snatched - right in front of the house!

Dear all

I have been asked to post the following "alert" on behalf of Mr Tony Xavier, a founding member of the USJ Residents Association.

This incident happened on Sunday January 04, 2009 circa 5.00pm

Mr Tony's daughter-in-law was sweeping the house porch. The house gates were open/ajar. Suddenly, she was pushed to the ground and her gold chain was snatched from her neck. The perpetrator then fled with another accomplice on a Suzuki motorbike (could not glimpse the motorbike reg.no). However, the bike-rider appeared about 40-ish while the other was younger, something like in his 20-s. They appeared to have dark complexion (Malay/Indon-looking).

Mr Tony's house is a end unit located along Jalan USJ 2/4 (main road which is quite busy traffic-wise). Obviously, the daughter-in-law must have been observed by the perpetrators before they sprang into action.

Balai Polis USJ 8's S-I Amir was contacted and he promptly despatched a patrol car but to no avail. A police report has been lodged.

Btw, USJ 2 has been reported to have a high spate of snatch-thefts lately, mainly targetting those walking home from the Persiaran Kewajipan/Summit/main road as well as outside residential homes (as in the case like Mr Tony's).

PLEASE REPORT ALL INCIDENTS -- including attempted incidents not involving any losses - TO THE POLICE SO THAT INCURRENCES ARE NOTED FOR ENHANCED POLICE PATROLS. THIS IS IMPORTANT.

Last but not least, the onus is on YOU to exercise your own personal protective measures ... be careful how you carry your handbags/purses, ensure your cars are locked (better still with security devices), home gates/windows are secure and locked, etc.

SO PLEASE BE VERY ALERT TO YOUR SURROUNDINGS & OBSERVE THE MOVEMENTS OF VEHICLES, etc.
