Update on the meeting with Police and "friendly" neighbour Kamal

Dear Residents,

Last Saturday, 10 September 2011, some 50 residents along with the Committee members came to meet with the Police and to get an update from them at the USJ 11/3 padang.

USJ 8 Police Chief, Tuan Inspector Farid along with some of his officers and Councillor Rajiv came to join us for the meeting. Councillor Rajiv briefed the residents on matters of interest such as the development that is taking place on the playground and the new contract for garbage collection as the contract with Alam Flora has been terminated. He claims that with the new contractor, services are expected to improve and substantial savings of several million Ringgit is in the cards for MPSJ.

Tuan Farid then briefed us on the incidences of crime and the measures taken to prevent crime in our area. He also briefed us on the "MyDistress" application, a service to send distress signal to the police with a touch of a button. The service/application is provided by a private company and it only works on smartphones and currently only available in Selangor. But plans are underway to roll out this service nationwide.

He also talked about the crime rate in our area and has said that the G&G has been very effective in reducing crime in USJ and Subang Jaya in general. He also spoke on the recent parang gang active in USJ and said the police is doing everything they can to nab these criminals.

Meanwhile, our resident Kamal who has made numerous complaints to MPSJ and even to KDN in Putrajaya did not turn up for the meeting.

This was despite an official letter sent and many phone calls and SMS made to him inviting him to the meeting. A lot of the residents especially from USJ 11/3K who wanted to meet with him personally to find out what his gripe was - were disappointed when he did not show up. Obviously he does not have what it takes as when the residents wanted to meet with him - he did not show up.

The dialogue and briefing lasted for more than an hour and since it was still Raya, some of the neighbours brought out cookies and Raya goodies to share with all the neighbours while the Committee has earlier arranged for curry puff and nasi lemak for a makan-makan session. It was really nice to see all the neighbours gathering in such jovial mood.

The meeting ended right after that.
