More Crime Reported

Last Friday, 12 December one of our Committee members was robbed by a man with a parang, in CIMB Bank in Taipan.

Siva was withdrawing money from the ATM at the bank when it happened. It was 6.45 in the morning on his way to work when he went to the ATM. He was the only customer at the time.

The moment he completed his transaction, a man wearing a full face helmet rushed in and put a parang at his neck and warned him that harm would befall him if he did not hand over the cash which he quickly did.

He lost RM1,500 to the armed robber. But giving the robber the money was probably a wise move as it would have been worse if he was slashed or something. Good thing he was unharmed.

At the time of the incident, there was a security guard on duty. I spoke to him later that evening and asked him why he did not help to which he said he was worried for his safety as the man was armed with a parang.

I then asked why he did not use his gun which was by his side leaning on the wall. He said he just got the gun which was unfortunately given to him only after the incident. But he did witness the whole robbery which happened in less than 5 minutes.

So folks, please beware that when you go the ATM machine to do your banking or make cash withdrawals. Do so with caution and choose a time when there are a lot of people around.

Robbers and thieves are opportunists and so taking that equation out from that situation will reduce your risks in exposing yourselves to possible crime.

On the very same day, there was also a break-in in our area. The victim was from 32, 11/3F, a neighbor of K.L Wong, our committee member. The owner had gone out early in the morning and came back in the evening when he realised that his house was broken into. It was raining in the morning so it seems to suggest that crime rate is higher during the rainy period so be extra cautious.

Anyway, the burglar had pried opened the front grill and the wooden front door. Some jewelries and watches were stolen which seems to suggest that the thief was on foot as all the big items were still in tact, such as computers, TVs, etc.

Unfortunately, the house was not fitted with an alarm system so the burglary went unnoticed even when the neighbors were actually at home!

So, you see, crime can happen to anyone, even in the presence of security so never take things for granted. Be very alert at all times and DO NOT let your guard down. Please take all the necessary precaution and INFORM your neighbor when you go out so that they can keep a look out for you, even if it is for a short period of time.

Take care, everyone.

Hi Committee Members
So far we have 3 break in in the last one month. Looks like guards can only reduced entry of unwarranted guests on cars and motorcycle which have reduced snatch thieves. The fencing project must go on to prevent walk in thieves/robber. Is there any delay on the fencing project due to objection by the restaurants and selfish individuals?

did usj16's shops complain when they put up the g&g? there is only 1 entrance for the shop area and they seem to be doing ok. the shops in usj11 have better access than that. hope the fencing will be done asap like usj16

Have to said unlucky to our neighbour, see even with G&G Break in still happened, must ask "Y". As far as I know there is "No Guards Patrolling" during the day time (Morning to Evening). Please note "Break in" always happened during the stated hours as we out for Work and left the house empty. Our Committee Member please look in to it. Thanks

My dad has also experienced a similar case as Siva.

My father had been robbed at a bank- Maybank (taipan, behind KFC) early in the morning (around 6am) and i think it might be the same person- who carries a parang.

unlike this case where the security guard was present, Maybank somehow had no security guard present.

luckily my dad wasn't hurt. (or i'll be hunting down the damned bugger)

but he lost RM 5000 in cash, his gold chain (inherited from my greatgrandmother), his wallet containing money, credit cards and I/C, his engagement ring, his new handphone and his watch.

Hopefully the banks take these cases seriously because we chose their bank to deposit our hard earned money and they should ensure our safety.

After reporting the horrifying incident to the police, they had gone through the CCTV images of my dad being robbed but they couldn't do anything because the man was wearing a helmet and a black raincoat to conceal his identity.

My dad sent a letter of complaint (because of the absence of the security guard) to the Maybank HQ to replace his total amount of money robbed.

However, the Maybank person in charge refused to be responsible for the amount robbed because there wasn't any regulation about replacing any amount robbed from Maybank customers WHICH HAPPENED IN their banks.

WHICH HAPPENED IN THEIR BANK! not in KFC, not in shopping complexes but IN. THEIR. BANK!!

I have to say that they are brainless gits.

Isn't the absence of the security guard their fault? I am sure that if the guard was there, my dad wouldn't have been robbed.

Furthermore, my dad only asked for the replacement for the money taken from the ATM. He did not ask for the stolen gold chain, engagement ring, watch, handphone AND his wallet containing cash and others.

If in the case where there isn't any proof supporting the incident, i think they have their right to say that they are not responsible but THERE. IS. EVIDENCE!! The CCTV images were sent to them and yet they refused!

and i noticed that until today, there isn't any security guard at Maybank. They don't care for our safety and they expect us to choose their bank?? HEARTLESS!

As you can see, we cannot depend on the police or the bank's security guard to ensure our safety but we can only depend on ourselves.

And I want everyone to know how cold hearted the Maybank staff are.

MAYBANK SUCKS!!

How can the fencing of usj 11/3 help prevent crime. It takes minutes to cut through the fence. Gates have to be provided for residents to get out of 11/3 and therefore allows non residents to also get in.

Based on the comment from Blackflamerz .
I also reliased that Maybank don't have security guard at ATM as compare to surrounding banks like HSBC & SCB . As such why should we deposit or transaction with the bank that don't have sufficient security ? BTW , I will close my Maybank a/c soon and move to SCB or HSBC .
