DENGUE ALERT!

It is hard to imagine a small mosquito can play havoc to your life. But this is the thing, we should not under estimate the force of this tiny creature and the deadly virus it may carry. This is a vector driven disease and should be taken as a serious threat to our everyday lives.

Well, I had it again, dengue that is, just last week! This time, I had to stay in hospital for more than 4 days. The first time was in 2005 when my wife and I got bitten by the Aedes mosquito. We were both hospitalised. It was very bad then as I had bleeding gums, etc. This was something I totally did not expect to get again. Luckily this time it was less vicious compared to the last time. I am out of the hospital recovering but not fully yet.

For your information, there were already 3 known reported cases in the area facing the playground along USJ 11/3 in the past few weeks. It is a real threat not be taken lightly.

We have to do our part if we want to avoid getting dengue. We should and must keep our house surrounding clean. Get rid of all containers that may hold water or turn it upside down. It will only take a minute to do that.

So, please do your part, spray the surrounding area in the evenings with water based aerosol. Get rid of any larvae by pouring it on the main road or on dry ground so that the larvae does not get a chance to survive. DO NOT pour it into the drain as the larvae will still survive.

Report any clogged drains and areas that may need the authority's help. All these steps will go a long way to ensuring we live in a safe environment.

Remember to keep your family safe.

dear jeffrey,

thank god to hear from you again. it's dis-heartening to hear of another dengue case in our area again as i had just been through hell because of dengue fever during the CNY period. i felt relieve after getting out of the hospital but now my eldest son is hospitalised with dengue again. we did almost everything we can to prevent the mosquitoes nowadays.
hopefully the committee and residents can co-operate and help our kampung to overcome this problem with MPSJ.
we offer our sincere thanks to you and wish you a speedy recovery. hope to hear from your website soon.
